Cheap Eats - Where You Can Find A Great Meal Under $10 Bucks

If you're looking for a place where you can grab a tasty meal for under $10.00, here are some great spots in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods. We can guarantee if you don't know where Belly Shack is and you're driving just a little too quickly, you'll miss it. Located under the el tracks just South of Western and Armitage, this is a great little spot serving up Asian + Latin cuisine. Where hipster meets affordable, this packed hot spot is perfect for an inexpensive snack of tostadas and tacos ($2-$3). Our personal favs include the fish tacos. we're addicited to these. Bon Bon Vietnamese Sandwiches  2333 W. North Avenue 773-278-5800


This cute sandwich shop in Wicker Park focuses on one specialty and it is delicious. Bon Bon offers eight kinds of banh mi, the traditional Vietnamese sandwich served on a French-style roll. One of the neighborhood's newest additions, head to Falafel & Grill for some of the freshest food you'll find in the area. Our favs include the falafel (of course) and the Chicken Shawarma. Family-owned Irazu serves delicious authentic Costa Rican food. Only breakfast and lunch fall under the $10 mark with breakfast around  $6.50. Sandwiches, burritos and tacos are very affordable. Dinner entrees, however, are well over the $10 mark (with the exception of the veggie entrees) so plan accordingly. No reservations. This tiny neighborhood spot on serves inexpensive Caribbean-inspired seafood. A variety of fried seafood is available by the pound or half pound and served with hush puppies, sweet potato fries and Caribbean cole slaw.


Ojo de Agua Taqueri   2235 N. Western Avenue 773-235-8807

Family-owned spot aims to stand out with a solid lineup of tortas, burritos and tacos plus hearty chicken, beef and pork platters loaded with heaping portions of rice, beans and French fries. Plus, they have terrific specials. You really can’t resist washing it all down with fruit shakes in flavors such as banana, mango, papaya and coconut.

With 3 locations in Chicago, Pennys Noodle Shop consistently delivers good traditional Thai food at a great price.  A favorite includes the Pepper Noodles with chicken or beef. You'll find plenty of rice and noodle dish options, appetizers, soups and more. And they deliver too.

This very casual eatery specializes in oven-baked sandwiches, New York-style pizza, pasta and salads.  And during the week, you can grab a slice of pizza for only $2 ! Most recently, Santullo’s was voted as 2nd best pizza in Wicker Park – Bucktown by our viewers and was also recently noted in Chicago Magazine. If you’re not careful, you might mistake this tiny Thai eatery for a house…well, it is a converted house.  A great spot for traditional Thai fare and a warm and welcoming oasis off of Western Avenue.
