Don't miss the 5th Annual Green Music Fest at Damen Avenue between North and Schiller, adjacent to Wicker Park (1425 N. Damen). For just $5 you can catch music all day long. It doesn't look like there will be another Dinosaur Jr. appearance this year. This year's line up includes: Manchester Orchestra, Into It. Over It., Everest, Ha Ha Tonka, Joe Pug, and a Talking Heads cover band named This Must Be The Band.
The annual Green Music Fest heads to Wicker Park for a fifth consecutive year. The signature Chicago street festival sets itself apart from other music fests by mixing great bands with environmentally-sustainable production, eco-minded vendors and services, demonstrations, arts & crafts and family activities.

The Green Production Measures Taken:
Green Music Fest goes above and beyond the City requirements to provide collection of recycling and composting on festival grounds. The City of Chicago recycling requirements ask for a plan but do not require a demonstration of results. The producers of Green Music Fest contract a "green" consultant to ensure that recyclable or compostable materials are properly handled, not contaminated with non-recyclables, and that the materials are actually recycled and don't end up in a landfill. "Eco-Ambassadors" will be available at each waste disposal station to guide people on proper disposal of compostables, recyclables and garbage. New features to Green Music Fest 2013 include a cell phone recycling station and expanded environmental education.
Also, the City of Chicago's new green initiatives will be on prominent display, including:
- Divvy, Chicago's bike sharing system, is introducing its program for easy, fun, and affordable transportation, with 400 stations and 4,000 bikes across the city, placed in close proximity to public transit stations. Green Music Fest attendees can win free daily passes!
- As Chicago's Blue Cart Recycling Program continues its citywide roll-out, Green Music Fest Eco Educators will be having fun and helping residents distinguish recyclables from trash, with a chance to win prizes such as handy reusable recycling bags, and free downloads from local musicians like Scott Lucas & the Married Men!
The Green Family Fun Fest:
Presented by the Wicker Park Parents' Association, the Green Family Fun Fest at Green Music Fest provides plenty of fun-filled and educational children's activities throughout the weekend including: recycled arts & crafts, DIY musical instruments, organic cooking demos/classes, clowning, face-painting, puppetry, drumming and dance demos, student performances, live children's music and local pest experts on hand to teach kids about good bugs and how to help keep gardens green.
The Green Family Fun Fest Stage includes:
Mary Macaroni - 12pm
Mr. Singer Trio - 1pm
Bill Brickey -2pm
"Super Stolie & The Rockstars" - 12pm
Maria McCoullough & Mexican Song Ensemble - 1pm
