Wicker Park's Trenchermen Closing At The End of The Year

After 4 and 1/2 years in the neighborhood, Wicker Park's Trenchermen is closing their doors. Chef and Co-Founder Patrick Sheerin (who founded the local eatery with brother Michael) told the Chicago Tribune he will be stepping down for personal reasons: "2016 was a tough year for my family and for me personally," Sheerin said. "I have to take some time off and regroup, and there was no way for me to take four or five months off and have things (at the restaurant) be OK."

Heisler Hospitality (Sportsmans Club, Pub Royale, Queen Mary) announced Trencherman will be closing after December 31, 2016. Their last service will be New Year's Eve. In a statement the group said: "We acknowledge that the restaurant cannot continue in its current existence without the heart and soul of the brand at its helm."

Heisler Hospitality has plans for a brief reconcept retaining much of the interior while revamping the menu. The re-concepted spot, Trench, will open in early 2017 at 2039 W. North Avenue in Wicker Park. As always, we will keep you posted.
