Wicker Park Fest 2016 Announces Full Line-Up

Wicker Park Fest organizers announce the full line up for this year's festival being hosted on July 23rd-July 24th 2016. What began as a small community street fest originating on Damen Avenue has grown into one of the biggest neighborhood showcases of the year, with some of the most highly anticipated live music of the Summer.

This year's festival includes three stages of continuous live music, a dedicated children’s fun area, an arts section with installation and performance acts, dozens of the most popular local boutiques and restaurants, and environmentally-friendly production efforts. Wicker Park Fest Arts:
Wicker Park Fest Arts is a dedicated section within Wicker Park Fest with unique and inspired works from some of the most talented local artists and arts organizations.  Wicker Park Fest Arts 2016 (in the middle of the action on Milwaukee) features visually-compelling works throughout the weekend, including installation art by John Bannon and performance art by Collaboraction.

During the fest, Bannon will unveil a piece entitled “Universe,” a contemporary mythological model of the Cosmos.  The jaw-dropping installation work consists of a kinetic light sculpture composed of a life-size, sculpted human figure covered with mirrors and tethered to the top of a 20-foot radio tower.  Collaboraction, Wicker Park’s own nationally-renowned performance art company, will create the Collaboraction Art Oasis – an area of art, community and fun – with activities like the Dome of Dance, an Art Bar, Break Dancing and much more.

Wicker Park Fest Green:
Wicker Park Fest goes above and beyond the City requirements to provide collection of recycling and composting on festival grounds. The producers of Wicker Park Fest contract a “green” consultant to ensure that recyclable or compostable materials are properly handled, not contaminated with non-recyclables, and that the materials are actually recycled and don't end up in a landfill. “Eco-Ambassadors” will be available at each waste disposal station to guide people on proper disposal of compostables, recyclables and garbage.

Fine Print:
Wicker Park Fest is held on Milwaukee Avenue between North Avenue (1600N. Milwaukee Avenue) and Paulina (1200 N. Milwaukee Avenue); easily accessible by the Blue Line and just minutes from downtown.  Event hours are 12:00 noon – 10:00 p.m. on July 23 and 24 and the gate donation is $10.
