Jerry's Sandwiches Announces They're Leaving Wicker Park

A Division Street staple for almost 10 years, Jerry's Sandwiches has announced they're closing their Wicker Park bar & eatery at 1938 W. Division Street. The lease for their new space a little further North didn't quite sync up with the space in Wicker so they've stayed in the neighborhood longer than they expected. Their official close date is September 24, 2016.

Before the doors close for good, they have additional events planned including: the Jazz Institute Crawl on Wednesday, August 31st, Original Rap Karaoke on Saturdays and the final night of the 6th annual Darkest Harvest beer event (opaque brews, films of horror, and spectral sounds) on Tuesday, September 20th.

They're also offering "good-bye"discounts on whiskey and beer beginning on September 12, 2106.

We remember when Jerry's Sandwiches moved onto Division Street almost a decade ago in the wake of a number of restaurant closings like MAS and Leo's Lunchroom. They were a welcome addition to a street that wasn't heavily populated with commercial businesses and bars like it is today and we are very sorry to see them leave. According to co-owner Mark Biles, Jerry's is closing up shop because Division Street has changed significantly since they opened. Over the past few years "the area has turned very young and sports bar centric (Wrigleyville West)". Their customers have moved to areas like Bucktown and Logan Square. In addition, not relishing the idea of running 3 restaurants, they can now focus more fully on Andersonville and Lincoln Square.

Jerry's Sandwiches will join the list of Wicker Park businesses who have opted to leave Division Street  including: Bob San, SmallBar, MAS, Moonshine, Crust and Prasino.
