Wicker Ice Returns To Wicker Park For 2016-2017 Season

December 2, 2016- It's baaaack. The community-funded and run ice skating rink is heading back to Wicker Park's namesake park located at 1425 N. Damen Avenue this weekend. Wicker Ice is being installed today, Friday December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 by Iron Sleek and volunteers. Because this is a community effort and is not managed or funded by the City of Chicago, volunteers are needed to help in the set-up and maintenance of the ice skating rink throughout the 2016-2017 season.

In addition, although the rink is being filled with water this weekend, ice skating will not be permitted until the rink has been frozen completely. Using the rink before this happens can damage the liner. So it's imperative to wait until the appropriate time. You can follow Wicker Ice on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates. Looking at the December forecast, however, with highs in the twenties, it shouldn't be long.
