Bucktown Community Organization Will Help Recycle Your Christmas Tree

December 29, 2016-After the holidays, don’t throw that Fraser Fir Christmas tree in the alley trash or set it out on the curb. You can recycle it!  Real trees are biodegradable, which means they can be easily reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes city-wide and the environmentally-friendly Chicago Christmas Tree Recycling Program diverts thousands of trees away from landfills.  In addition to recycling efforts throughout the Chicago area, the Bucktown Community Organization (BCO) is also providing several opportunities for you to drop off those trees right in the neighborhood. To make the recycling program even easier for area residents, the BCO will happily pick-up your tree from one of the community locations listed below and deliver to the City’s mulching yard on your behalf.

From 6 am until 12pm Noon on Saturday December 31, 2016, the Bucktown Community Organization will be picking up trees in the following locations:

SE corner – Lyndale/Oakley (Senior Citizens Park)
NW corner – Marshfield/Bloomingdale (Walsh Park)
Bucktown Green – 1720 N. Hoyne
NE Corner – Honore/Avondale

Please do not dispose of your tree in these locations after the pickup time.

For additional information, head to the Bucktown Community Organization's website at: www.bucktown.org.

If you can't transport your tree to the Bucktown locations above, Do The Right Thing Recycling will pick it up from your home for a donation to their not-for-profit organization.
