Wicker Park Bucktown Insider's Guide

Sirens Production Team Issues Apology to Wicker Park Residents

Michael Hamrick - Wednesday, October 09, 2013

Wicker Park residents were shocked this week when they woke to police sirens and bull horns at 1:00am Monday morning. But it wasn't a crime or serious problem. It was the Sirens Production Crew and Chicago Police Department waking them up to move their cars off of the 1500 block of N. Elk Grove.

Chicago Fire and Chicago PD have been filming here non-stop as well and there haven't been issues with parking. But the production teams for Chicago Fire/Chicago PD post pink or green notices on every single residence in the area potentially impacted by filming. But the "Sirens" crew, who just started filming in the neighborhood a few weeks ago, posted "No Parking" signs and then (ironically) used sirens early in the morning when cars hadn't been moved. Residents were not happy.

The Production Team issued the following apology to the residents affected by the incident earlier this week which was published via Alderman Moreno:

October 8, 2013

Dear Residents,

The “Sirens” staff would like to send an apology for the inconvenience our filming caused in the early morning disturbance that occurred on October 7, 2013.

It is our sincerest desire to keep a balance of peace and good will among the communities where we film our productions. During our filming, we have worked diligently to prevent and avoid confusion and will put forth a greater effort to avoid future mishaps within the community. Our crew has enjoyed filming in Wicker Park, shopping at the local stores, and enjoying the amazing food. In order to make amends enclosed is a gift certificate from a local Wicker Park business.

We hope you can find in your hearts to accept our heartfelt apology.

Thank you!

The Sirens Location Department

They'll be back in the neighborhood at the end of the month.
