Wicker Park Bucktown Insider's Guide

Roxie's Pizza By The Slice Could Open As Early as Friday

Many have been asking about the opening of Bucktown's newest pizzeria and it sounds as if Friday, November 21st is their target opening date. Owned by restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff, Roxie's Pizza By The Slice has taken over the former home of Cafe Con Leche at 1732 N. Milwaukee Avenue and have made it all their own.

Joining the ranks of Piece Pizzeria, Dimo's, Santullo's and Lou Malnati's just a couple of blocks away, Roxie's will bring their own style to pizzas. According to a report published earlier by DNAInfo, 28 inch Brooklyn-style pizzas will be cooked on a stone deck with only 8 slices per pie. That will result in a sizable slice of pizza for a cost per piece of $4.50. Eight different rotating toppings will be available. There will also be 14 beers on tap available by the glass or pitcher and sooda will also be available.

Roxie's By The Slice will open each day at 12pm and will stay open until the pizza runs out. Whatever time that may be. Look for Roxie's to open as early as this Friday in Bucktown.

Damen Avenue directly next to Big Star in the former Cipolina space. So what can you expect to find at one of Wicker Park's most highly anticipated new restaurants?

Owned by the team behind Violet Hour and Big Star (The Publican, Blackbird), the neighborhood's new counter service diner is serving food morning, noon and night set to the sounds of 1960's-1970's soul and blues. You'll find Mexican-inspired soul food and a tequila and mezcal-focused bar program.

See you there.

Wicker Park's Emporium Arcade to Double in Size By Summer

Michael Hamrick - Thursday, April 04, 2013

Wicker Park - April 4 2013

Emporium Arcade, Wicker Park's bar-cade at 1366 N. Milwaukee Avenue just opened last June and this uber popular spot is already looking to expand. Great news because if you've ever been to Emporium Arcade, you know how packed it can get.

We saw a public notice posted about the expansion a few months ago and DNA Info published details of the plans today.

The expansion will allow Emporium Arcade to move into the adjacent space (1368 N. Milwaukee Avenue) allowing them to essentially double their space. The new space will include an additional bar, more games, a possible event space (to rent) and a movie projector screen.

Additional details will be disclosed a little later.

And we've just got to say, we love seeing our fellow small neighborhood business owners expanding like they are. Congrats.
