San Francisco-based bag company Timbuk2 has moved in to a former 2100 square foot Bucktown firehouse and former location of Nanette Lepore at 1623 N. Damen Avenue. The focus here is on bike messenger-esque bags and any type of bag that helps keep you moving. Started by cyclists in 1989, Timbuk2 will also launch a bike-sharing program next month offering tubes, pumps and tools for community use. An indoor "parklet" is also planned so Timbuk2 customers can kick back and relax while in the store.
A Grand Opening Party is planned for May 17th from 2pm -8pm that will include tamales courtesy of the Tamale Spaceship food truck and beer via Revolution Brewery (2323 N. Milwaukee Avenue).
