At long last, a warm sunny Spring weekend is in the forecast with temperatures close to 70 degrees on Sunday. So how can you spend the terrific weekend ahead? We've got lots of news, great music, big sales, free classes and more. We also snapped this little photo of Chicago Fire filming in Bucktown this week when Lottie's is officially named Molly's for the tv show.

Chicago 1968 - Vanquished Realities

This new exhibition at Wicker Park's Eyeporium Gallery features photos that are anything but that. Photographer Stan Rosenstock sifted through over 3,000 photos from the tumultuous 1960's in Chicago to select the ones that will be showcased here. You can view his very cool exhibition through June 24th. Vanquished Realities





Bucktown Community Alert - A community alert was issued this morning for the Bucktown area. Eight garages have been broken into in the past 3 days. For additional information.

Graffiti Removal Day - Alderman Moreno is hosting a volunteer graffiti removal day this Saturday starting at 10am. The team will meet at Clemente High School. If you're interested in helping please contact Alderman Moreno's office for additional information.

New Hotel Hybrid Heads to Division - A older Wicker Park building is beginning a new life at 1659 W. Division Street. The former SRO building is being transformed into a hotel-hostel hybrid. It will include 35 units and possibly a small cafe for coffee and pastry. Look for Holiday Jones to open this Summer.

Palm Terrace Banquets Facade Removed - One of our amazing Twitter followers gave us a heads up last weekend. The front facade of the Palm Terrace Banquets building was being removed. And behind it?  Beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture. For a peek at the new look. Palm Terrace.





Soul Summit Presents: Ruby Velle and The Soulphonics

Don't Miss Music Shows - This weekend packs a punch with great music you won't want to miss. Tonight. The best dance party in town, Soul Summit Dance Party, kicks off their monthly FREE show at 9:00pm. British band Killing Joke is playing multiple sold out shows at the Empty Bottle with an additional early show added and Southern Cal veteran Bleached heads to Subterranean.




New Development Heads to Chicago Avenue
Just south of the neighborhood, but big news for West Town, 3 large parcels of vacant property right on Chicago Avenue (just west of Wood Street) have recently been purchased by a developer. Luxury apartments are heading to East Village.

Wicker Park /East Village Home - Just Listed - $475,000
If you've been looking to buy property in the neighborhood, you know how quickly everything is selling. This adorable cottage was just listed by @properties this week and it's located at Augusta and Paulina. No parking but a great deal. Single Family Home.






Big Star Sous Chef Fundraiser  - Chef Joseph Gleeson was involved in a hit and run while riding his bicycle earlier this month. A fundraiser is being held this weekend at The Charleston to help with Joseph's medical bills. If you'd like to participate. Fundraiser.






FREE Yoga Classes Saturday - Eb & Flow at 1843 W. North Avenue in Wicker Park is offering a free yoga class so members of the community can try something new. Interested? Just sign up. Also this weekend, the 8th Annual Cheap Thrills shopping event which includes multiple retailers with big big sales. Cheap Thrills is being hosted at Mazi Dance Fitness, 1564 N. Damen Avenue - and is both Saturday and Sunday.
