Chicago Police Are Looking For 2 Suspects in Bucktown Shooting

Michael Hamrick - Friday, September 23, 2016

On September 11, 2016 it was reported by many news outlets that a 25-year-old man had been shot in Bucktown. According to the original reports, the man went out drinking for the evening, passed out, went home and realized he had been shot in the chest as he was taking a shower. Many would agree that a lot of information was missing from those reports.

So the details of that incident include the following. On September 11, 2016 a 25-year-old Bucktown resident was walking home from a neighborhood bar at approximately 3:00am when he was involved in an attempted robbery. The 2 suspects approached the victim in an alley West of Damen Avenue between Charleston and Dickens. They shot the Bucktown resident in the chest at that time. The incident was captured on video through private security camera footage. The victim may have gone into shock (vs passing out) following the shooting. A significant amount of blood was found in the alley and on the sidewalks. He did, however, make it home and eventually to a hospital where he was listed in good condition.

The suspects involved in this shooting and attempted robbery are described as follows:

One black male approximately 5'7, 145 lbs, relatively thin with short black hair, wearing plain black hoodie, black pants and black high tops or boots armed with a silver/chrome handgun. One white/latino approximately 5'7, 155 pounds, wearing jeans with a navy blue "Just Do It" Nike hoody with white high tops. He was also armed with a handgun. It's believed a third offender was driving a red 4 door sedan Focus.

The photo of the 2 suspects was obtained via the security camera footage in the alley just before the shooting occurred. If you can identify these men, please contact the Chicago Police Department at (312)744-8290.

Bucktown's Holstein Park Extends Pools Hours

Michael Hamrick - Tuesday, September 06, 2016

Traditionally, the Chicago Park District Pools close for the season on Labor Day. But this year, Bucktown's Holstein Park has decided to keep their beautiful pool open. This comes as great news in the wake of warm temperatures still predicted to be looming on the horizon this week. Today, for example, the forecast predicts a high of 91 degrees....in Chicago....in September. Tomorrow it will be 92 degrees.

That being said, the Holstein Park Swimming Pool is scheduled to stay open until September 30, 2016.

The pool is located in the park at 2200 N. Oakley Avenue and opens at 10am daily. If you've never been, it's a little hidden jewel in the middle of the community. The pool spans 50 yards and the depth ranges from 3 feet to 11 feet. A full schedule of hours is located on the Chicago Park District Website. Mario Lopez Makes Appearance At Wicker Park's Saved By The Max

Michael Hamrick - Saturday, September 03, 2016

Had to cruise by this SBTB diner while in town... #Chicago

A video posted by Mario Lopez (@mariolopezextra) on

Wicker Park's pop up bar/restaurant Saved By The Max pays homage to the beloved sitcom Saved By The Bell. The diner located at 1941 W. North Avenue has been painstakingly recreated to provide diners with a trip back in time ... and right down memory lane. Reservations sold out immediately and the pop-up's stay was extended through the end of the year.

As part of their promotion at the launch of the opening, the team behind the Wicker Park hot spot promised possible guest appearances by actors featured in the show. And they did not disappoint. Saved By The Bell's A. C Slater  (and now tv celeb) Mario Lopez made a very surprise appearance late last night surprising diners and capturing the moments through photos and video on Lopez's Instagram account.
