On Friday July 6th at approximately 5pm a transformer located behind the 1500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park exploded causing a fire directly behind the Damen Blue Line El Tracks.
The Blue Line El was stopped for approximately 30 minutes and power outages are now being experienced in the area of Double Door at 1572 N. Milwaukee Avenue and Big Star at 1531 N. Damen Avenue. Personal residences have also been affected.
Power is expected to be back on by midnight tonight per Commonwealth Edison via Double Door.
