Wicker Wire: At long last, and in record speed, Mariano's Market gets ready to open at 2021 W. Chicago Avenue in Ukrainian Village. A preview and ribbon cutting were hosted this morning with the Chairman / CEO Bob Mariano, Alderman Burnett Jr. and Mayor Emanuel. The shelves are still being stocked and the layout is very similar to the Dominick's previously in the space; the reason for that... so the opening of the new Mariano's could happen more quickly. A few changes have been made. The Starbucks has been replaced by a juice bar. And the cheese section features wine pairings. This store will feature "game" meat based on the demographics and interests of the neighborhood.
The new location at Chicago + Damen Avenue will provide 350 jobs to the local community.
The team at Mariano's Market stated this is a store wholly focused on the neighborhood and their community; welcoming your input. Mariano's Market officially opens at 6:00am on Tuesday March 25th.
No firm date is available at this time regarding the opening of the new store at Ashland and Webster in Bucktown. Mariano's has only confirmed it will open later this year.
